Triple Act not such a big deal - let's just get on with the job
Today Premier-Elect, Kristina Keneally, will go to Government House to be sworn in as the 59th Premier of NSW. This will mark a point in history where the Governor, Premier and Deputy Premier are all women, the first time these offices have all been held by women simultaneously.
Whilst womens liberationist organisations will try and make a big deal out of this, all the rest of us want is for the latter two at least to get on with the job of repairing the damage caused to this state in the last 14 years by bad government and three out-of-touch Premiers.
No matter what way you look at this, Kristina Keneally is probably the best of a bad bunch. If Frank Sartor, Joe Tripodi or Eddie Obeid were elected yesterday I would be leaving my job and leaving the state this morning. These three blokes are about as trustworthy in my eyes as the Mafia, the Khmer Rouge and all of Australia's bikie gangs all rolled into one great lump of bad news.
On the subject of Mr Sartor:
Mr Sartor was understood to be angry at the ''betrayal'' by John Della Bosca and Tony Kelly. He believed they voted against him and cost him the premiership. (From the
SMH)
Clearly the wars between the Right and the Left but also within the Right of the Labor Party are not yet over. Mr Sartor is smarting over his demise as Minister for Planning and then the double whammy of being toppled by the same woman in yesterday's leadership spill. Mr Sartor needs to grow a bigger penis and get over it. He's a spent force in politics.
All we can do now is yearn for the 26th March, 2011. By the time the next election rolls around NSW will have been subject to exactly 16 years of
hard 'Labor'. I am certain that the Liberal and National Parties can provide an effective alternative that will reverse the trends and 1. Fix the infrastructure problems that plague this state and 2. Get this state out of debt.
It will take a long time but it is a job that must be done.
