John Howard takes aim at Kevin Rudd
It is a classic case of 'I told you so' but former Prime Minister has come out, accusing current Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd of running a do-nothing government.
Mr Howard is on the money. Mr Rudd is a useless Prime Minister, running a useless but also destructive government. Rather than govern for all Australians as promised at the last election, Mr Rudd has invoked a series of destructive and nationally embarassing policies which have done absolutely nothing to improve quality of life, keep Australia away from recession, stop house prices rising beyond real worth, stop Coles, Woolworths and the big 4 banks milking our wallets or do something positive for the environment such as keeping the former government's solar power subsidy in place and forming a policy on the introduction of nuclear power in Australia.
Mr Rudd's chronic symbolism echoed by his apology to Aborigines, the signing of the Kyoto Protocol and the repellation of the former government's Pacific Solution which kept boat people at bay for years, along with an insane gabfest called the 2020 Summit which had a bunch of wealthy people, many of whom don't even live in Australia, assemble for the purpose of deciding what is best for those that do live here. The result of the 2020 Summit: we should embrace republicanism and do more for Aborigines and the environment. So much for governing for all Australians.
What will a republic and a president do to stop interest rates spiralling out of control over the next three years? Nothing.
What will giving more handouts to people who have never once been shown how to integrate into the rest of society do? Nothing.
What will signing the Kyoto Protocol do to stop sea levels rising? Nothing.
What does saying sorry for actions never committed by the current generation of people do to keep employment high? Nothing.
The bottom line is that Kevin Rudd is a jet-setting spend-thrift. He is the most useless Prime Minister we've had since Paul Keating and the 11+ year era of stable politics from a conservative government, lead by Mr Howard, who had the intestinal fortitude to make tough decisions like the Pacific Solution and the implementation of the Future Fund, which Labor still wants to get their hands on and waste on election bribes such as the cash handouts we've recently received shows that Mr Rudd is simply a man of style over substance. Mr Rudd is there for the showmanship, the glitz and the glamour that is part of his role as the nation's leader. What he doesn't have, however, is the strength to take advantage of that position of authority for the common good.
Mr Rudd is not governing for all Australians. He is spending a lot of time and money on seemingly endless overseas travel and paying far too much attention to minority groups and the plight of all these queue jumpers that are landing on our shores in wholesale numbers.
