Seeing those two have their O:lines removed would be justice served. It would be a fair and just action given that those two and some others spent years removing users for both direct and indrect advertising. Why should they be allowed to flaut the rules, they are there to administer?

If they are allowed to continue spamming users, modifying services bots and the like, then it can only be seen as a case of double standards. One rule for sammee and storm-man and one rule for everyone else. I just hope Ancient sees what's going on and serves justice after all this time.

I imagine that there is a fair bit of spamming going on with the network closing down. However, for people in a position of *relative* authority on the server to be wilfully breaching the rules is an utter disgrace.

Again, this sort of behaviour comes as no surprise. Sammee never did follow the same rules as everyone else did. Most of the rules she followed were the ones that she made up as she went along. Her time on the Bigpond server was spent largely contravening the same rules that she was enforcing upon others.

One can only hope that the real custodian of that server would finally wake up and realise the mistakes he's made and correct them accordingly. He might still salvage some pride and credibility, if he has the ability to see past the bullshit he has been fed for years by Sammee and her followers.

Time will tell.

I wish Sammee the best of luck, because given her entirely negative attitude and lust for power, she really will need it. Especially dealing with others on another server that she doesn't own but which she has been granted an o:line on for her ability to push people across to that server. Now that she doesn't have that ability what exactly is her net worth to any network?

I've always stated she would be welcome on Induced, in the capacity of a chatter. The o:line places too much responsibility on her shoulders. She should just get back to doing what chat is all about. Talking to people on an equal footing, from all walks of life.

But I suspect that will never be enough for her...

It appears that there is still biased treament of users. JD is not only spamming the pond heavily (every 2 mins) but is now allowed to run a relay bot between urchat/essx and bigpond. So much for an even playing field.

The occassional invite or advert is fine, but at the rate its occuring at present, its worse than a serial spammer. Even more so when theres a relay bot in the channel linked to the other netowrk to help the process.

Easiest solution would be remove JD and Chanbot all together and administratively prohibit his nicks from use, since he seems not to be able to play the game fairly, and consitently breaks the bigpond AUP with little or no respect for it.. or ancient for that matter.

His behavious isn't different but probably expected from someone with JD's limited intellect. One would have expected that Sammee and Storm-Man would have behaved themselves and showed that they were deserving of the Chatmaster's trust right up until the end but I guess at the end of the day that was never going to happen. They abused the trust placed in them in the most self-aggrandising and arrogant way and they did it for their own benefit and not for the benefit of the people they annoyed which was pretty typical of how they conducted themselves for the last 4 1/2 years.

Only now does action get taken but at the end of the day it is all academic. Induced IRC was always going to be a natural successor to Bigpond Chat and this is the case for a number of reasons.

1. Trust: Many chatters already knew or knew of the members of the Induced IRC administration team due to their previous tenure on Bigpond. All of these members are well-known for being straight shooters, knowledgable of computers and IRC and have either developed and administered websites pertaining to IRC; run the largest rooms on Bigpond; conducted themselves in the role of IRC Operator without fear or favour, affection or ill-will; and lastly, written chat scripts for free download by others.

2. Branding: Induced IRC is backed by some of the biggest names on the Australian chatroom scene. iServ, Shintara and Vilesilencer to name but three. All these sites and those they link to have well-known and trustworthy histories for being sites of choice when there was something that someone wanted to know, they came to these websites first. Today is no different.

3. Suitability: For those being cast into the abyss by Bigpond, Induced IRC is the natural choice. Induced has been online for a very long time, is physically and politically stable, has a good management structure and hosts IRC on good equipment. More to the point, Induced IRC is an Australian IRC Network with all its equipment located in New South Wales and Victoria and the network operates under Australian Law. Recently opened networks being blatanlty promoted by Storm-Man and Sammee cannot offer any of these attributes because they are hosted outside Australia on shell accounts with fewer features, no administration control at all and with limited bandwidth. These networks also do not offer chatters any legal protection under Australian Law.

The fact that Induced IRC can pick up a vast majority of Bigpond's userbase without the owners of that network openly spamming the service anywhere proves that we deserve the trust placed in us. Induced IRC will return the favour by continuing to provide a physically and politically stable chat environment with more relaxed rules whilst making sure that the corrupt element that I addressed earlier is kept well away.

It is our belief that these other wannabee chat services will ultimately end up supernovas due to infighting and power struggles. It is the ultimate display of evolution and there is bound to be a period of consolidation after Bigpond closes. It is just a matter of all this sorting itself out.

It should be noted first of all, that this is not my original user name (I first went to a non-aussie server a few years ago under a different name, then moved to BigPond afterward - big mistake), and secondly I was an admin on a non-aussie network for a couple of years straight, and I NEVER banned a user simply because I wanted to feel superior; bans were only effected as a result of rules being broken - spam mostly earned a g:line (which under UnrealIRCD = global ban, although z:lines sometimes worked there as well), along with room rule breaches such as harassment of other chatters, excessive swearing, flooding, dcc exploit attempts, asking for sex in main, racial slurs etc. those usually just earned a warning and a simple kick message to the offender - none of this a:kill shit. Every one of these warranted a legitimate fair and just course of action, but not Nazi-ism (such as commented on about sammee elsewhere here), that's unacceptable by anyone's standards.

From what I've read here, it shows sammee as little more than a Gestapo leader, minus the swastika logo armband, out to take whatever she can get, miserable old bag. I certainly will NOT go to any server she has oper access on; that would be like ending up in a POW camp.

No justice in the world.

I'm not meaning to blow my own trumpet here, where o:lines are concerned, I'm simply saying sammee was a shithouse IRCop on BigPond and I believe many people could do a far better job than she ever could.

A classic case of multiple spamming in a main room, gay filtering system creating asterisks - with no one caring much and only the one network ban that I saw while there - just as well that log is from a weekend, just before I discovered Induced and NO I was NOT the guest.

There isn't much in it that you don't already know, but I thought I'd share it since it seemed relevant to this thread.
