The Chasers take a holiday

The end of season for the ABC's Chaser's War On Everything has just passed us by with a last line swipe at those, such as me, who don't find anything that they do very funny. As I don't devote any time to watching these idiots I will quote from News.com.au a closing message by Andrew Hansen, made infamous by his televised comments about terminally ill children:

If you watched and loved the show, thank you very much and to the other 19 million of you - screw you.

I'll maintain my reputation by replying in kind:

Chasers, do us all a favour. Instead of taking a holiday why not take a hike instead. You guys are a bunch of unemployable shitheads. I challenge any of you to get a job outside your own little sphere. Only an idiot would hire any of you. The fact that 19 million people wouldn't lower themselves to wipe their arses with your show's script shows that sanity is still a resource enjoyed by the vast majority.

Enough said.

I agree. The Chaser series has never really appealed to me, particularly the 'make-a-wish' episode which stirred up a major controversy, resulting in the series at the time being suspended earlier this year.

Here is part of an article from the abc.net.au website (this week's update, with the headline 'Morrow stands firm on Chaser's sick-kid sketch') which reads: The Chaser's Julian Morrow says he is sorry a sketch on the show hurt people whose children have terminal illness - but he does not apologise for causing offence to others.

"The way to create original and interesting product is to not worry about what the audience will think," he said.

"You have to back your own judgment. In fact I've found that that's what audiences respond to most - usually with praise, occasionally with death threats."

The article further reads 'Morrow says he sees a difference between those who were genuinely hurt by a controversial sketch and those who were just offended.'

What does that tell you?

"If you were just offended by that sketch, I'm not really sorry. Of course you have every right to be outraged and to express your offence to whoever you like," he said.

He then says "In many, but certainly not all cases, I recognise that your outrage springs from a good place - from compassion for the suffering of the others. But if you were just offended, unlike those who have been hurt, I don't believe you are owed an apology."

Yea, right, OK.

What a load of crap, why justify it? In short, he's just another fool. This is the closing line of the skit (from a link on the same site) which sparked such outrage: "Why go to any trouble when they're only going to die anyway?" I rest my case. Frown

Let's hope they never make another series of this Chaser shit, nor have the temerity to repeat it at any time.
